What about family allowance ? Will my parents still receive it if I'm working as a student ?

If you are under 18, your parents will receive family allowance regardless of the hours you work or your salary.

If you are over 18, you may work 240 hours per quarter during the academic year (1st, 2nd and 4th quarters) while retaining the right to family allowance. The allowance will be withdrawn for the entire quarter if the limit is exceeded.

During the summer holidays (between two academic years), there is no limit to the hours you may work.

During the final summer holidays (the year of your degree), you may work a maximum of 240 hours.

But do be aware that if you are enrolled on a reduced hours course, the amount of your salary can affect the entitlement to family allowance. This will be cancelled if your gross income exceeds €499,86.

Family allowance will not be paid if you are over 25.
